Healing Homemade Hummus

When you've got a taste for salty, crunchy and satisfying, grab for this easy to make traditional homemade hummus that is not only bursting with flavor but packs an anti-inflammatory punch to boot!

*Anti-inflammatory, *Blood Sugar Regulation, *Heart Health, *Antioxidant

  • Prep: 10 mins
  • Yields: 3-4 Cups

Ingredients

2 cups garbanzo beans, frozen or canned, drained and rinsed

1 tablespoon chopped garlic

1/4 cup tahini

1/4 cup boiling water

1 teaspoon tumeric, powder

Pinch cumin or cayenne

1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste

1-2 tablespoons olive oil

Juice of 1 lemon

Directions

1Blend all ingredients in a food processor or blender until smooth.

2Serve with sliced cucumbers, celery, carrots, baby tomatoes or broccoli.

Get spicy!  Feel free to experiment with different fresh spices and herbs.  I love to throw in some raw turmeric to give it an extra dose of antioxidants!
