Have you ever grabbed your pen and notebook, stared at a blank piece of paper and wondered, “What the fudge am I supposed to write about?”

You doodle around the page a bit, frustrated, annoyed close the notebook and slide it under your bed and think,  “Journaling is just NOT my cuppa tea.”

This sums up my journaling experience for years! Chances are, if you’re reading this,  you might feel the same way.

Maybe you don’t journal because….

  • You don’t know how to get started. Do you ask a question or answer a question?
  • You never know how long to write or what results you’re supposed to get?
  • You’re afraid of confronting painful experiences, struggles and fears that might be staring back at you.
  • Maybe you’re unsure of what to do with your journal.  Do you go and re-read, save your journals, burn them in a sacred ritual…

This pretty much sums up my journaling journey.

But, recently, I had a change of heart after reading these words written by Robin Sharma. ❤️‍?

“My wounds have delivered wisdom. The person you become when you come out of the storm is not the person you were when you went into the storm. That’s the purpose of the storm.”

And…

“Writing in a journal reminds you of your goals and of your learning in life. It offers a place where you can hold a deliberate thoughtful conversation with yourself.”

Beautiful right?

Think of journaling like holding a thoughtful conversation with yourself and building a better relationship with you.

After I read those words, I was SOLD on journaling. Sign me up. Where’s the pen and pad of paper?

After journaling on this very particular experience – wondering why this quote moved me so much, I realized that it’s because I value relationships.  It’s in my top 5 core values.

So any opportunity I can grab aligned with my values that helps me strengthen my relationship to myself and others, I’m in line for!

Plus, after reading and hearing from many mentors, experts, and extraordinary humans that I look up to, they had one simple common practice.
