This version of "Chicken Soup" isn’t just good for your soul. There’s a reason this broth is used as a simple prescription from practitioners to mothers alike. Sip on this stock year round for amazing health benefits and use it to help heal leaky gut syndrome, improve immunity and joint function. You can drink as a warm beverage or tea like drink, cook veggies or your favorite grains in it or even make a gravy from the fats.

  • Prep: 5 mins
  • Cook: 5 hrs
  • Yields: 10 Cups

Ingredients

Bones from poultry, fish, beef, lamb, shellfish, or whole chicken, or whole carcass (remove meat when cooked - about 1 hour)

8-10 cups of purified water

1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar

1-2 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon pepper

2 carrots

1 onion

2 stalks celery

½ cup fresh parsley chopped or 2 tablespoons dried parsley or both

1-2 teaspoon sage

1-2 teaspoon rosemary

1-2 teaspoon thyme

2-3 bay leaves

1 Daikon radish (optional)

1 Burdock root (optional)

Directions

1Put all ingredients into pot. Bring to a boil.

2Once boiling, let simmer on low for several hours (4-24) or in crock pot on low.

3Remove bones, vegetables and skim off fat.

4Store in glass ball jars.

Juicy Tips:

  • I store my extra left-over broth in large Ball jars.
  • You can also use a pressure cooker or InstaPot (my fav)  to make your bone broth in less time.
  • Apple Cider: I enjoy using Bragg's.  It is a household staple for us!
