Ever try to… Give up coffee? Stop eating fast food? Exercise more? Strive to drink more water?
Have you found that within a few days or weeks into a new goal your motivation withers away?

Motivation isn’t the only ingredient in the behavior-change recipe. Keep reading and learn how you can implement small, easy steps that are going to withstand the swings of motivation.

Small steps will help you stay on track, instead of getting derailed, as you might have in the past.

Below is a quick checklist you can use to choose “Golden Behaviors” that will help you stay on your health game.

Behavior Change Checklist: Make sure to answer the following questions when you’re implementing a new behavior. The goal is to identify a “Golden Behavior.”

  • Motivation: Do you even want to do this new habit? This is your motivation. It is a key component, but it’s not the only thing that we want to focus on.
  • Ability: Can you actually do this habit? Are you capable physically and mentally?
  • Impact: Will this new habit actually have a positive impact on meeting your end goal? Is your new habit or behavior going to have a positive impact in your life?

If you can answer yes to all of these questions, you’re in a good spot because the combination of these criteria constitutes a “golden behavior.” You can always change your behavior if you find that your ability, impact, or motivation is lacking. Sometimes just a tiny, tiny tweak, makes the behavior “golden.”

Remember, you have the power to own your health, to own your happiness and you can start doing this today with tiny transformations.
